The Roger Turner Company was formed by Roger P. Turner, MAI, in June of 1981 in Wichita, Ks, as a sole proprietorship. He began operations in an office suite of the Colorado Derby Building. The company quickly outgrew its original offices and in 1982 purchased an office building in the Old Town area. In April 1990, the company expanded again and moved to Downtown Wichita to the Commerce Plaza Building. The firm is now located in the R.H. Garvey Building in the heart of Wichita. The Roger Turner Company is active in the appraisal of all forms of investment real estate from subdivision analysis, shopping centers, high-rise office buildings, churches, apartment complexes, motels and hotels, restaurants, manufacturing facilities, country clubs, cattle ranches, feed lots and dairy farms, etc. The large majority of its business focuses on office, retail, industrial, and special-purpose property appraisals.
Roger P. Turner, owner of the real estate appraisal firm, is a native Wichitan and has been active in the real estate appraisal business since 1974. He is a graduate of Wichita State University where he earned a B.A. degree in Political Science and History. He is a member of the Appraisal Institute (formerly the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers), and the Kansas Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He received his MAI designation in May of 1981. In October of 1991, Mr. Turner became a Certified General Real Property Appraiser in the State of Kansas, by the Real Estate Appraisal Board, Cert. No. G-299. He has served as president of the Greater Kansas State Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Institute of Real Estate Management, and the Wichita Area Builders Association. He is CAPS certified by the National Association of Home Builders. He has taught numerous real estate appraisal courses, lectured on real estate taxation and conducted private seminars. In the field of appraisal, Mr. Turner has appeared as an expert witness for the Kansas Department of Transportation, City of Wichita, Sedgwick County Government and numerous law firms on tax matters and condemnation cases.
Mr. Turner has been active in Wichita community activities, having served as a member and chairman of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Board of Health, Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum Board, the Wichita Art Museum Board, as well as being an active member of Rotary. He has also been property chairman for the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Mr. Turner is currently a co-trustee of the Roland P. Murdock Collection of American Art, housed in the Wichita Art Museum and a member of the Murdock Society.
Andrew Koke joined the Roger Turner Company in 2002 as an appraiser. Mr. Koke has a B.F.A. degree in Communications from Emporia State University and an M.A. degree in History from Wichita State University. He is a faculty member of Butler County Community College. Mr. Koke has successfully completed the Appraisal Institute’s courses on Appraisal Principles, Appraisal Procedures, Basic Income Capitalization, General Applications, Advanced Income Capitalization, Highest and Best Use and Market Analysis, Advanced Sales and Cost Approaches, and USPAP. As of October 8, 2014, Koke has become a Certified General Real Property Appraiser, certified by the State of Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board.
Diane Shirley joined the firm in 1998 as an Appraiser Assistant after gaining 15 years of experience as a mortgage loan processor. She has a B.A. degree from Wichita State University.
Becky S. Turner is co-owner of the firm and an Administrative Research Assistant. She has a B.S. degree from Kansas State University in Journalism and Health and Human Sciences. Becky has been a licensed Realtor with J.P. Weigand & Sons, Inc. since 1995 and has the GRI designation. She has the CAPS designation from the National Association of Home Builders. She is also a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist. Her former positions include, Director of Information Services Wesley Medical Center, Director of Public Relations and Journalism Instructor Friends University and Owner Becky Turner Public Relations. Becky has served as Interim Executive Director of Mark Arts (Wichita Center for the Arts). She is also an active community volunteer with an emphasis in the Arts (Mark Arts & Wichita Art Museum). Becky is an Honorary Trustee of Mark Arts.
Stephanie Turner, a Wichita native, serves as a consultant at Roger Turner Company. She is now a 2nd generation Realtor serving the Chicagoland area and the West Loop. She is with the Powers Group C21 SGR. She graduated Cum Laude from DePaul University with degrees in Fitness Management and Athletic Training in 1997. She also owns her own fitness business (Muscle Activation Therapist) in West Loop. Growing up around real estate, she has always been passionate about the industry. She is a Certified Luxury Marketing Specialist. Her goal is to be a concierge to her buyers and sellers, providing the highest level of service as they invest in their future.
